I recently purchased a G1sn and am having some trouble using a tv to play a movie, or anything for that matter. For some reason it cuts off the display on the right and left side (possibly top and bottom too), for example full screening a movie will result in a large portion cut off from either side. Even using it as a cloned desktop results in a large portion of the desktop on either side cut off. My old notebook would work fine. I tryed mixing up what I think was every conceivable setting in the Nvidia control panel, but I may be missing something.

    Thanks,
    -mjt

Try and connect the cable after you boot your notebook and use the nvidia control panel to select your external display.

yea I have used the nvidia control panel thoroughly and it just seems to think my tv is bigger than it is. I've tryed multiple tvs and still same problem!

Try updating the drivers. Might sound bizarre but some of these dual display functions may not be tested fully in the driver versions and may have bugs. goto laptopvideo2go.com and download 177.41 probably the most stable release as of recently. You need to download the modded inf as well and replace it in the extracted package or else it will say that your graphic card is not supported.

Is the TV widescreen or 4:3 aspect? If you move the mouse cursor around to the cut off area will the screen shift to show you the cut off part, or does the cursor just disappear off the edge? If you adjust the resolution of the second display in Windows Display Properties does the problem get worse, get better, or stay the same?

to JoeNewBerry: I've tryed on both wide and regular screen. The screen does not move it just disappears, which is why I am really confused. Changing the res does not help at all. I am connecting via S-Video so I have a choice of 800X600 or 1024X768, doesn't change a thing.(besides everything obviously getting bigger :p)

In that case, I'd try what D3X suggested. It doesn't seem like it could be a hardware problem or just a simple software setting. I'd suggest removing the video driver completely and installing the same one again or the latest one from laptopvideo2go.com above.

One other thing you might try, if you haven't already, is hooking up the system with something besides S-Video, if you can, to see if it has the same problem. It might be specific just to S-Video output.
