My G2 wont hibernate. Well, it does, but only for a few min. then it fires back up. When I open it there's an insufficient resources message and an ATI window regarding memory.....anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it?

Here's a blog I found to help with your issue, it offers some solutions that may work. Click Here

Also, Did you install a fresh copy of windows? Either way I suggest putting in the G1 driver/utility, CD and see if any of the Hotfixes are not installed, if so install them, otherwise have a look at the blog for some solution.

My guess it is power problem or a screen saver problem.

No, I didn't install a fresh copy of windows. I was going to wait on Vista and then decide on whether or not to do that. I have all of the updates per microsoft and asus. Should I still check the driver CD? Should I check ATI to see if they list a different driver or software?

Hmm, i'm sure you have everything, the only thing i can think of is your screen saver, did you click on the link I posted above? Read through it and try some their solutions.

I did read through some of the suggestion and will try the screen save thing when I get home from work. I think it did this from the time I received the notebook, before I changed the screen saver. The default G1-G2 screen saver may have casued it too, but I would think a screen saver that ships with the notebook wouldn't casue a conflict like this.

OK, I went home and changed the screen saver to none and it still will not hibernate or go into stand by mode. Any ideas?

this needs a hotfix from microsoft.com

you can find it by searching on microsoft.com or even searching here on the asus forum for hibernate.

It has to do with computers with 2 gb

    windows xp hotfix.

I downloaded the hotfix this morning and all is well. Thanks

I haven't even looked at the drivers CD. I figured it was just a carbon copy of what the system shipped with. I didn't think it would update the system at all. Am I wrong?

The CD Contains all the drivers and hotfixes, but the interesting this is that I haven't heard antoher G2 owner complain of this, but also due to the small amount of G2 owners.

However, you can just pop in the CD and then see what Hotfixes it offers, other than that, if you ever format the laptop, remember you will need to download the hotfix.

The CD doesn't update, those are just stock drivers, to get update go to the Asus support section, also you can asus live update, but it is not worth it, and it a pain to use. Most people uninstall it.

Glad to see that you got everything working.
