    Hello,

    I have a G2S.
It came with a 120GB harddisk and now I want to replace it with a 250GB drive.
Normally in cases like that, I will boot off my PE-CD, run Ghost and create a complete Ghost-image on an external disk. Then, I will swap the drives and copy the image back to the new disk. This process has worked on all the previous notebooks I have had...

However, on the G2S I can create the image fine. But when I copy the image back, Windows will not start up. In fact, I dont even get the "Starting Vista" bar. The G2S just keeps rebooting in a loop - runs for app. 5 seconds and then reboots again, and again...

I suspect the Asus Utility Partition to be the culprit. I have tried booting from "Hiren's Boot CD" and changing the VistaOS partition to Active - but I still get the same error.

If anyone has a tip to get my Ghost image running, any help is appreciated. I still have the original harddisk so if I need to create a new image no problem :)

    Thanx in advance.

    /Simon

Are you using ghost 2003? If so, there's some incompatibilities with it and vista, however there are work arounds. I would suggest going to the RAD forums and having a look around, there's a lot of threads there about it. Hope this helps. :)

Is the problem maybe related to the recovery partition?

E.B.E. --> As I wrote, yes I suspect that the recovery partition is somehow involved in my problem. I am just curious, because normally this way of upgrading my harddrive should work flawlessly - and I am desperate for more space on my drive :) I cant be sure about the utility partition, but it is a qualified guess.

So, if anyone has a really good tip on how to upgrade my existing Vista G2S installation to a larger harddrive, please let me know :)
