Im curious as to whether the G2S suffers from the same "95% CPU throttling bug" as the G1S. Basically the G1S gives better super pi results if its on 100% battery power and the AC is unplugged than if its at 100% power and charging/fully charged. If a G2S owner could run the following quick test please?

    1) Download super pi mod v 1.5 from http://www.overclock.net/downloads/138140-super-pi-mod-1-5-a.html
    2) Ensure the battery is fully charged (100%)
    3) Ensure the laptop is in High performance mode.
    4) Calculate 1m digits of pi with the laptop plugged in (on AC power). Ignore this result.
    5) Calculate 1m digits of pi with the laptop plugged in (on AC power) and record the result.
    6) Unplug the AC power and again calculate 1m digits of pi and record the result.
    7) Post your results here.

For informational purposes with the G1S I just got results of 24.429s (on AC 100%) and 23.509s (on battery 100%). For comparison my wifes HP with a T7200 does NOT exhibit this behaviour and gives a result on 25.953s....

super pi for a dual core cpu is not a great idea. Its a single threaded application and thus will only use 1 of the 2 cpu cores.

Try wprime instad, and we have a major thread on the forums with a ton of results im sure there are a few G2S users who have posted there scores.

Its not a question of scores or threading - its a TEST to see if the G2S BIOS is similarly fubar'd as that within the G1S. From the results Ive seen neither the G1S or G2S are running the CPU at 100% while on AC power but I need someone to confirm the problem exists with the G2S....

Interesting to note, but as said, immaterial in regards to what I trying to ascertain here :)

I wish I could change the title on the post as well since the V1S scores seem to be similarly low so if you popped in here to see what the fuss was about and have a V1S I'd be interested in your results :)

Anyone with a G2S - just one person performing this test would be great :)

I think adolfotregosa flashed G2S bios onto his G1S and that removed the problem of CPU throttling. So i would guess the problem doesn't exist in G2S.

Yes he did however he didnt check the upper limit bug (AFAIK) hence my request for this test.

P.S. Looking at the super pi scores on all ASUS T7500 models I think this bug is present across the board so if you have a T7500.......

There is a fix/work around for that bug. However its still a question of scores :p because you mean to determin if the cpu is working full throttle based on the score it recieves from the super pi test.

The actual score is unimportant though - the question is : does a benchmark at 100% on battery significantly differ whether on AC power or while discharging.

BTW I tried the test with wprime - 39.624 on AC (best of 3), 37.939 (likewise) on battery so not as significant as the difference with super pi but but still enough to make me ask "what the hells going on here?."

BTW do you have a T7500 (or other santa rosa based) CPU to do a test Vicious? :)

i don't remember de scores when i had the g2s bios but i can tell you that when i asked a vx2s onwer (t7500 cpu) for the test it was ok just like you noticed on the asus forum. I think the g2s is ok.

As requested the scores on the g2s are

22.963 seconds on ac power and 22.963 seconds on battery power. So that suggests that the g2s does not have that bug. Hope that helps

Well maybe there is some good out of it for g1s users. As mentioned a couple of posts up cant you just flash the g2s bios into the g1s, or is it not as simple as that.

Thanks, though the thread is old so who knows if it's going to be useful to the earlier members.
