So, last night I spilled a tiny bit of water on my G2S-B1. I didn't think there was a problem, but then keys gradually stopped working. Then the 1 key kept typing over and over like I was holding it down even though I wasn't. I panicked and tried to take the 1 key off the keyboard to see if there was something under it causing it to stick like that. That didn't help and now I was left with no 1 key on my keyboard.

Anyway, thankfully 99% of the keys have started working properly again. The only key that doesn't work at all is the tilde button, which doesn't bother me much. I called Asus and the tech support guy said he could send me out a replacement laptop keyboard that I can install myself. This avoids the downtime of sending to them and them sending back to me.

    So my question is...

Can someone please guide me/explain to me how I can get at the keyboard? I have no idea. There are lots of screws on the back of this thing and I'm not sure which ones I need to unscrew and which latches I need to pull up to get at it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

there was a thread that links on the G2's owner lounge to access the second memory module which is under the keyboard, it gives the instruction how to remove the keyboard also...

Call Asus 24/7 support hotline: 1-888-678-3688
All they need is your serial number and just tell them you need a new KB and they'll send a new KB to you without asking you to send back the old KB.

Thanks. That's what I did, but my question is....how do I replace the keyboard? How do I get to it, what do I unscrew, etc? I tried searching the owner's lounge thread, but it's too big to find anything specific if there has been any instruction/guides on how to replace the keyboard, or at least get to it. Thanks.

That is really sick that they would do that. I have not known any support people to send something like that, its usally 1 month and they want to poke and scratch ur baby then send it back not fixed.

Yeh, I was impressed with that. I'm an over the road truck driver and I only get "home" about once every month or more, so I explained to the guy that it would be very difficult for me to send it to them and then have to wait for it to be sent back. He then told me he could just send a replacement keyboard that I could replace it with. Great service.

Now I just need to figure out how to physically replace it. =]

one cool thing about asus is you can call them while you are upgrading and have them walk you through it. they have excellent customer service, just slightly long waits for tech help.
