    Do the G50 and G71 machines accept PCMCIA cards (BestBuy lists the G50Vt-X1 as using the Type II Cards) or do they use the 54mm ExpressCards?

    EC = ExpressCard :)

    Just to confirm, both the G50 and G71 notebooks have 54mm ExpressCard slots.

    Thanks guys - not to be anal retentive here but according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expresscard

    A DataCard is 54mm wide and is usually referred to as a PCMCIA card

    an Expresscard is 34mm wide and is referred to as an ExpressCard

    I have an old Asus L3800C which takes PCMCIA cards. I'm looking to buy an HSDPA modem next week and upgrade my laptop next month.

    My concern is that if I were to buy a PCMCIA card for HSDPA, it wont work on a newer machine if the machine takes 34mm ExpressCards
