I installed and ran the benchmark 3dmark on my G50v-A1 and it was at about 4 frames through the whole test, this was the trial version of the program, and it was bugging me at the end it said my GPU results were 1376 and was running an integrated VGA, why doesnt it detect the 9700 as my GPU? Is there a setting I have to change in the premium version or what?

Sounds to me like you don't have drivers properly installed. Go to device manager (right click my computer, do properties. In XP it's the hardware tab, then device manager, in Vista it's on the left side bar, the Device Manager link) What's listed under display adapters?

Also, what's your Windows Experience Index or whatever? I've seen problems with a desktop 9600GT not being picked up properly and giving a 1.3 in Aero performance and a 1.0 in gaming performance. Driver updates solved the issue.

it wasnt being detected for some reason, I believe because I went into power saving mode, and the gpu didnt recognize going into full performance to switch back from the onboard

There is no onboard, sounds like a driver issue, also if you were on battery power or power saving mode that answers the question why. Because it limits speeds to save power.

Obviously the driver wasn’t install properly, just insert the drivers DVD and select VGA driver to install and restart.
