Hello there, I recently noticed that when playing video, I get a lot of artifacts, especially during dark scenes. It appears as a lot of square blobs. Has anyone experienced this?

What game, what video drivers, etc...
edit: ah, video my bad ... it's probably just the resolution of the movie you're watching and compression causing the squares you're seeing... try a dvd or high resolution movie and it shouldn't get all blocky on you -
Thanks for the reply. However, the movie I'm viewing is 720p. Oddly enough, when I view it on my desktop with CRT monitor, the picture is fine. I'm running default drivers.

Sounds normal.
If the movie is a re-compressed one (sounds like it if its 720p) the chances are that they used a lower bit-rate and this can cause the effects you are seeing.
The other thing is that LCD's show errors in the black levels more than CRT's do. If I watch my original Star Wars DVD on my LCD TV I can see moving black square errors in the dark scene where the text scrolls at the beginning.
