This is more like a work around then a fix. today i decided to check out my mini usb hub.

Beware some sites don't show this is NOT 2.0 usb. i got it for $8. at office depot about a month ago but never took it out of package, due to moving, holidays, also i don't get to decide how to spend all of my free time, cough...wifeOK back to the point, i wanted to clean up the wires coming out of the laptop. i plugged hub into the back usb port ( by the a/c plug) then plugged mouse, cooler, and game pad. then plugged headphones into jack to listen to some tunes, and there is absolutely no interference noise, none
what the hell i thought. so i plugged usb hub into all usb ports and no noise on any of them..best i can figure is that the mini usb hub must ground the peripheral better then the G50? and since almost all my gaming is done with headphones i am one happy camper
Now i say we start a petition against ASUS to send all G50 owners a free USB HUB... hope this helps out

Does the hub have a separate power source? If it does, your stuff is grounded on AC versus the battery's ground, which can fluctuate.
