I got my G50 last week and have been enjoying it, everything works as it should and have been able to solve most of the bugs regarding the laptop.

However, one problem remains, the OLED screen (The little blue screen above the keyboard for others) does not work for me. It worked after a clean install of Vista, but it stopped working after some Windows Updates I believe.

I tried changing the BIOS to beta 207 and updating ATKOSD2, Direct Console (2.0.5) and ATKHotkey, however none of these worked on solving this problem.

Has anyone got this screen to work? If so, how?

It may be a hardware problem. Did this OLED screen use to display anything upon booting, before loading Windows? If so, and that display is gone, then either:

    it's disabled from BIOS or
    it's a hardware problem

If that animation appears, then it's most likely a software problem.

If there was no animation... then there is no good way to tell.

I doubt it's hardware as it still shows the Republic of Gamers Logo, it just seems like it is a software problem to me.

It's just really a matter of finding working software -.-

Besides different versions of Direct Console I don't know what you could try.

Maybe just wait until Predator_MF cracks this thing with LCDHype, and then Direct Console will be only a bad memory. :)

What about going to windows task manager, file, new task and opening "c:\Program Files (x86)\asus\direct Console\Direct Console.exe"

This works with my asus g-50 laptop

    Hi,
I have the same problem, i can't use the "oled panel" and I think it's a hardware problem because I have an unknown device that appears to manage the display oled.

    Welcome to the forum.

This was an old thread. I would recommend to use LCDHype with Predator's driver, at this point.

See Info Booth, "Customize G50 OLED".
