For reasons that are to long to get into, I downgraded to XP with out a problem.
Has anyone gotten Direct Console to work in XP? If not has anyone tried Direct Console from a G1, for example? It's the only utility that is very important to me.
    Thanks a lot...

Direct Console on G50 or G71 does not work under XP, neither the Direct Console form G1.

If you really want to overclock your CPU, you could try use SetFSB ;)

I don't care about the overclocking, I care about the lights and the display.

I thought I remember seeing a link posted on the ASUS notebook forums talking about a guy on here that's working on building a XP Direct Console. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Please let me know if someone knows about this. I can't Vista to work "Reliably" with two hard drives installed when they are both encrypted with TruceCrypt and imaged. So - I really need the direct console for XP. Thanks....

I am sure the display can be controlled with LCDHype; see info booth, "Customize G50 OLED". I'm not sure about the LEDs.

Should work on XP with LCDHype, LEDs however will not work.
