Hello, I've had the g50 for just about a year and a half now and I moved apartments lately and its very quiet in here so I started noticing a hissing sound coming out of my fan when it runs.
Example:
GPU is 40 degrees fan is largely OFF, it heats up to 60 and the fan starts working.
It does not start immediately, first I hear "hisssssssss" then the flow of the air covers the hiss, I don't know if its broken or smth or it's because I moved to a much more quieter place but how come I NEVER heard it before?
If it just happened, is this something I should be worried about?
I've checked the temps and they're more than fine, the fan is very clean I've just cleaned it with compressed air very carefully, and nothing is jammed.
It does not rumble or anything, I think it spins smoothly, but this hiss is worrying me, I thought its from the speakers at first.
Any advice/ info?
Thanks a lot.
Edit: to avoid confusion I'd like to point out that the hissing is form the fans 100%, not the screen, not the HD etc... It's the big large fan on the left.

I am pretty sure that's normal. Generally if a fan is to be deemed broken it should be abnormally loud- I mean very loud- and also should have a sort of rumbling noise. As long as your temperatures are fine, your fans probably all right and you're probably just noticing this because of the quieter environment.

I would tend to agree that you are noticing it primarily due to the quieter environment. Given how long you have owned the notebook, however, it wouldn't be a bad idea to open up the bottom panels and use a can of compressed air to clean the fan and heatsinks. You might notice it running a little quieter after doing this.

I have done this today, still hisses but as long as no rumble and its spinning to keep the lappy cold enough I will have no heart attacks, thanks for the replies guys.
