To be honest, I am happy with my G50, but "more is always better" in computers, right? A few more points in a synthetic benchmark is gold.

But...I had a Sager 9860 back when that was "it", and downloaded and installed a utility to monitor temps and control fan speed, and it was never the same afterwords. So I am really shying away from trying to OC either the CPU or GPU on this machine (it even runs FSX with everything to the right except the two "traffic" sliders!). Fears founded or unfounded?

I'm pretty old, and not too computer savvy, but...

Unless u have a defective unit using the factory direct console should be prefectly fine and shouldnt stress the system to any extreme. The max bus clock is 333mhz (1333) and the factory turbo extreme raises this to 294 from the stock 266 bring proccessor speeds up 300 or so mhz depending on what you have.

The gpu might be a slightly different story in that regard i say do it if u need it and only in the time you need it. But thats just my way of keeping safe.
