I have a G50V A2 that I bought almost a year ago and as some of you might know, it came with a Blu-ray player. I recently purchased some Blu-ray movies and one of them refuses to work. The movie in question is Shaun of the Dead. I pop the disc in, it spins around for a bit and then nothing happens. Explorer, WinDVD for ASUS, and PowerDVD 9 do not see the disc. All three claim there's no disc in the drive.

I tested the disc on a friend's computer and while his computer recognized the disc, it couldn't play it, claiming it to be an incorrect format. I thought the disc was bad and got a replacement, but the new one has the same problem on my G50 - not recognized at all and I've tried the default Vista Home Premium 64 as well as Win7 RC 64bit.

At this point I don't have access to standalone Blu-ray player (or PS3) but I think the problem lies with my drive. The Blu-ray was released on September 22, 2009. I checked the ASUS support site and there is no new driver or firmware upgrade for the Blu-ray drive.

Is there anything that can fix this? All my other Blu-ray movies play just fine and I haven't found any complaints about this particular movie's Blu-ray version being problematic. As far as I know, the movie is region-free and comes with BD-Live.
