So, can you confirm(except ir,direct console, smart logon)that all works fine on asus G50V with xp pro drivers?
You have installed yet on it?
Did you have an improve of performance better than Vista?
About the Intel chipset,do you say that I'll find the drivers on a dvd or in the "D:\" hard disk of the notebook??(preinstalled?)
    thanks!

I have installed XP Pro on my G50V with absolutely no problems except the finicky IrDA driver, but that worked itself out after I found an alternative driver.

The drivers are on the CD that came with your system, the one that says G50 on it, not the restore discs. And you will need some drivers ahead of time.

Direct console doesn't work, even if I hex edit the installer to get it to install (bypass OS check), it won't work because of a missing insertion point in a DLL, so that's a 100% no-go.

Also make sure you don't disable the BIOS startup sound or you will not get sound in windows. The fix is to turn the volume to 0.

Check out this post for all the info you need, really.

BTW if going RAID-0 you can skip the slipstream and just throw those files from the zip file onto a USB floppy drive if you've got one. But the drivers toward the end of the post you'll need either way, RAID config or not.

You don't NEED to use it. It's an option on the table since there are two hard drives and support in the intel controller. It basically ties two hard drives together as one, increasing performance in certain applications.

XP 32 will only see 3 gigs, so if you need the full 4 go for 64 bit. But some applications and games are NOT compatible with XP Pro 64. Vista 64 is a different story, most everything that can run in 32 can run in 64.

ALLurGroceries, (any help other users can provide is also welcome)

I want to know if I can install Direct Console on windows XP x64, but vista 64 drivers included on the G50v CD do not work for this. If you can, please share how to bypass the OS check. Also, you may post where the alternative IrDA driver can be found (if you want to) and it will be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
