Okay, I learned something new today while messing around with setFSB, CoreTemp, and CPU-Z. Apparently, my G50Vm-X1 (the original Best Buy model) came stock with the ram in 5-5-5-15 CAS timing at a rating of 333MHz (Dual-Channel so technically 667MHz), however, apparently, thanks to CPU-Z, I now know the RAM can operate at a rate of 400MHz (Dual Channel so technically 800MHz) on timings of 6-6-6-18. Based on this, I now have a strong desire to to change my timings so I operate at 800MHz instead of 667MHz.

Overclocked at the moment so we're at 766MHz

Proof that it is a G50V

There is no area in the G50V's BIOS GUI that gives you the option to modify the timings so unless someone has written a custom BIOS giving this option, or knows of another method by which to do, I'd truthfully appreciate it. Thanks.

What is the speed of your other ram stick?
If both are 400MHz, then it's supposed to go to that speed by itself.

BTW it's not double the speed because it's dual channel, it's because it's DDR2 RAM (double data rate), so it actually runs at 333 mhz, but can transfer twice as much 667 million data transfers per second.

Your ram should be 800 Mhz (400) CL6 which is what im looking at right here. Its strange that its running at the lower speed and its more of a correction then a modification to be changing this.

Can we please see the initial shot that shows your bus speed? The G50 operates on a 3:2 bus to ram clock ratio.

Also if one ram stick is slower it will run at the slower speed.

That's memset, a great ram timing tweaking utility. if you overclock your gpu, and your ram runs at the newer speed, then you can adjust timings through here. otherwise, you cannot adjust clock speeds, strictly timings.

and your stock clocks are 800mhz, so based on the 1:2 FSB to RAM frequency, your RAM should be at 800mhz. try resetting the bios settings.

Based on that last statement, I now know what the problem is. Bus speed is 667MHz. Guess its time for a new CPU. Either that or I crank this T5750 to 800MHz FSB.

Heh see if GenTechPC still has that P8400 on hand and if/how much they would sell it for. Should perform very well and let your ram run free while its at it.
