I've been playing Devil May Cry 4 when I'm connected to my power supply (High Performance Mode) and there's no lag.

The problem is when I'm only running on battery (no ps connected) the game lags very badly. I still have my laptop on High Performance Mode and it still lags. I tried the overclocking feature too and put it on Turbo Extreme and it still didnt help. I even tried putting the game settings into their lowest possible settings and still no difference.

So I was wondering whether there's something wrong with my G50.

Does anyone experience the same thing?

I've played both HL2 and Bioshock on battery without a problem - other than the battery running down in about 40 minutes.

Sometimes Windows automatically detects you are on battery, and switches your mode to "Balanced" or "Battery Life". Try going back to just battery, and see if Windows changed it for you, and the change it back.

PowerPlay for the gpu probably. It downclocks in battery mode to save power.

That or the cpu is going down due to power save options.

It should not be a big deal since you really cant game on battery power for long.

Look for a program called Powermizer switch. It's what you want.
Just beware you might get 30-40 minutes gaming before your battery hits 0.

Yep, PowerMizer is causing this, and PowerMizer switch will probably help you.

There is also a switch in the graphics advanced settings (nvidia control panel), but not sure if it actually helps with keeping the GPU clocks high on battery. I have not tried it, but the downclocking on battery is pretty resilient in newer versions of the drivers.

    Did you disable powermizer?
