Hi. I upgrade my laptop's bios to v205 and it was successful. On first boot, it was if to use the default setting or go configure. I went configure (F2 I think) but did not change anything and just went to save settings and exit. Is this normal?

I am wondering if I have change any of the bios setting after doing this? I was hoping this version of the bios would give me a lower temp., CPU, GPU, overall.

    JB..

Were you able to update the bios without reinstalling Vista?

Someone else reported that they needed to reinstall the OS after flashing v205.

Flashing the BIOS will have reset any changes you had made in the BIOS configuration, so you would only need to reset something you had changed away from the default setting before. If you left it at the default configuration before you don't need to change anything with the new BIOS...

Hi. Fortunately I don't have to do that. But I've read that other had problems where the system doesn't recognize the 2nd harddrive. So far, no problems here, I think. But, here is the thing. I've installed the v205 bios and the latest graphics driver and now my GPU temp doesn't go any lower then 49c. Before the update, it will go to at least 46c. Not sure which one caused this. I did the update to lower my temps down, specially playing games. I think I'll downgrade my graphics driver and see how the goes.

Yeah, I know. So any suggestions on what to do next? Should I inquire Asus regarding this problem?

Also, you mentioned in your previous reply to my post that if I did not change anything prior to upgrading the bios, that I don't have to change anything in the bios setting. So, the default setting of the v205 bios is the same as the setting of my notebook's bios when I first got it then?

    Thanks,

    JB..

Is your machine set up to use raid. If so you might have to go into the raid setup and change something.

Yeah, unless you changed something (like enabling raid) when you first got it (with the original bios), you don't need to change anything for the newly flashed bios config.
