I just bought Gears of war and installed it on my laptop. I played it for about 15 min. and the temp. go crazy! CPU, when up to core 1 was 54c and core 2 was 52c. GPU went up to 86c! Is this normal? 10 min. after I stop the game, CPU, core 1 went down to 34c and core 2 to 29. GPU went down to 48c. BTW, room temperature was about 18c.

Hmm... A bit on the high side. I get less and I live in Singapore. Check your vents aren't blocked by dust or by something else. Try undervolting your CPU (check the undervolting guide out for that)

Hi. On the high side is what I thinking too. This thing is not every 1 month old, so the dust is kind of out of the equation. As for where it sits, it is sitting flat on my desk and nothing blocking the vents. I upgraded the bios to v205 and the video driver to V7.15.11.7623 (found on Asus website). I was hoping that these updates will address this issues.

    Any other advise.

    Thanks,

    JB..

Hi Kenny. No, I haven't tried playing any other graphics intensive game yet on this unit. But I am almost sure that I will get the same high temp with other games. Even when not playing 3D games, just web browsing and doing something in MS Visual Studio 2005 can kick the GPU temp to around 57c.

Is there an email address for Asus notebook support that I can write? In Canada?

    Thanks,

    JB..

Well. I emailed Asus tech. support regarding my system temperature and according to their reply, the temperature I am getting is within the normal operating range so no over heating occurs. Check below for their repl

I think the temperature I am getting is pretty high but if they say it is normal, I guess I have to take their word for it.
