    Sorry I posted this in another thread but I think it might have got lost in the shuffle...here are my questions;

    I want to get into the Bios but I'm not sure which key to hit during the Intel/Asus splash screen at the start.

    Also, has anyone else have their laptop plugged in but its showing as only 97% charged? I've yet to have my laptop unplugged but the charge never gets to 100%

    Any help would be great....thanks!

    F2 to enter BIOS, I believe.

    You can always try battery calibration in BIOS, or run on battery for a while and then try charging it up again to see if that resolves the issue.

    My old laptop would only re-charge when the battery fell to 95%. Most Li-ion style batteries will disconnect the charge at 100% to stop overcharging and will then top it off every so often, you may be above that top-off value still.

    Only way I found to top it off was to semi discharge it to below that point and then plug it in.

    I was having your problem with the battery too. It's gone now it seems. All I did was keep it plugged in for a little while without it being turned on, and now it shows 100%

    On my A2 it always stops at 98% then eventually it goes up to 100 but it does like to sit at 98 for awhile

    As I understand it, the rate of charging modern lithium ion batteries is very rapid for about the first 80% of the battery. The charging then slows down more and more as you gain more power. Once you get up to around 95%, it may take a while to get it to that nice 100%. It's nothing to be concerned about. Unless it stays there for a countless number of hours.

    Even if it never gets to 100%, it's not much to worry about. Sometimes batteries seem to do this. If it never charges past 90%, that's different, but a 3% offset, it's not really important.

    Sorry to bump an old post, but I'm having this problem too, but I guess reading the posts, it's nothing to worry about..

    I just got my G50VT-X2 yesterday and my battery is @ 96% now... (took it off of battery for a minute or two for a second)

    The lower right, in the system tray, shows "96% available (plugged in, not charging)"

    I don't know how to get it to say "charging" instead of "not charging"... I'll probably try draining the battery for kicks and then plugging it in to see if it charges...

    It should start charging after it drops past a certain level. If it doesn't, then your battery may be in trouble -- but I doubt that.

    The battery level is just an estimate shown in windows, it's not anything to worry about. I have noticed this too on my G50V-A2. It will only stop charging when the battery is physically full, or if there is enough power being used by the notebook itself that there isn't enough left to charge the battery (usually in super performance mode). I don't think it's a defect in the battery because in Linux it always shows up correctly, it's probably something to do with the power management design in windows.

    According to the manual, it doesn't start charging until battery goes below 95%.

    Ya you're right it is in the manual, but I think it's software rather than hardware, as I said it doesn't exhibit the same behavior in linux, always fully charges. In windows it will sometimes hang around 98 or 97%
