I have configurated my new g50v in raid0. I am using vista 64bit. The 2 drives are the stock 200gb 7200rpm-
I have attached the HD screen shot. I wonder why up to 70% seems like something is preventing the raid from boosting more.
PS. I had win xp before vista and I had the same results..
    thanks for your help! :)

In HDTune, the HDD speed curve is always dropping like that. In fact, w/o RAID, there is a downward slope even in the beginning of the test. RAID seems to add that plateau up to 70%.

I do not know the technical explanation (I never cared enough to look for it), but the phenomenon is normal.

Hi everyone and to you ViciousXUSMC! Im new here in this forum and this is my first post and i dont know if this is the right thread to post my question. I just got my new G50V-A1 and when i click my "My Computer" on the desktop screen it shows 4 Hard Disk Drives, namely:

    Vista64 C: 116GB
    Data D: 106GB
    Local Disk F: 116GB
    Local Disk G: 116GB

and Drive E: for the DVDRW

My question is, i would like my HDD's become 2 or 3 storage only like:

Drive C: for my Programs, Documents and Data,
Drive D: for my Games, Music, Videos, Pictures, etc.

So, 250GB for Drive C: and 250GB for my drive D: Is it possible? if its possible, where can i put my System(Data)Recovery?

or is it possible for this type of partition:

Drive C: 200GB - for my programs, documents
Drive D: 50GB - for my System Recovery
Drive F: 250GB - for my Games, Pictures, Videos, Music, etc.

Sorry for my dumb question, im not a computer genius. Your suggestion is very much welcome.

Can anyone give me a step by step procedure on how to do it?

I would keep the recovery partition as it is, don't touch it.

Apparently the integrated Vista partition manager is quite powerful, so you should be able to do the rest with it.

    1. Back up your data.
    2. Move all the data from D: to C:, and from G: to F:.
    3. Right click computer, Manage, go to Disk Management, this should give you access to the partition manager.
    4. Delete partition D:. Resize C: to fill the 1st HDD.
    5. Repeat for G:, F:

Like this the recovery partition should stay as it is, and you should get the 2-partition format that you wish.

I would suggest keep all personal data (including documents) off the system partition. Saves time and worry in case Windows kicks the bucket. :)

There you go, a screenshot for deleting the last partition on a HDD. Here you should have your 1st HDD selected. Select the last partition on it, right click, Delete.

Then, select the first partition (or the 2nd if the recovery partition is on that hard drive), and Expand/Extend. Set it to expand to the entire HDD. Hopefully the Vista manager supports this option.

    Repeat for 2nd hard drive.
