So, let's get this out of the way... I'm an idiot.

Now... I'm trying to restore my G50VM to Vista, and I need the driver disc. I cannot, for the life of me, find where the disc is. Does anyone know where I can find an ISO for it?

Yes, I've had it. I know I used it to install XP on the laptop, but I don't know where it's gone since.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you'll be able to find an official ISO of the disc unless a member here decides to rip one for you (hah, that sounded kinda funny). You can always go to the ASUS website and download the individual drivers from there. Some of them have been updated, too.

Yeah, unfortunately that won't work. I'm trying to restore from DVD, and it's asking for that disc. Kinda stuck right now.

Well, to make your life easy, someone could make an ISO for you.

Alternatively, you could just download all the drivers, together with the utilities that you need, from support.asus.com. Then when the restore process asks for the driver disk, force a shutdown by holding the power button, reboot, and you should have a clean Vista install. Then proceed to install the drivers and utilities.

Tried what you suggested, but won't load the OS. Just sits flashing a cursor prompt. Thank you for your suggestion, though.

Would anyone with this laptop be willing to rip the disc and making the ISO available to me? I would really appreciate it.

I'll work on getting you an ISO as soon as I find my disk...(I do have it around here...somewhere)

Do you have a spare retail copy of Vista? That would be an alternative, but of course it's a waste of money (the OEM license of the computer is missing).

Did you try contacting ASUS and having them send you the drivers disk? Maybe for free, or maybe for a small sum.

I just upped a torrent at Demonoid that is the Driver Disc for G50V. It's an ISO and packed with 7Zip, compressed from 1.14G to 643M. Since my upload speed is lackluster, please be patient if you grab it. Also, if you do get it, please help me seed it so others can get faster speeds.

If you're a member of that site, cool. If you're not, let me know and I can shoot you an invite. Here's the link.

    Have a great dane. :)

Dont hold the power button to abort, you need to cancel out of the install not shut down. that did work on earlier models

Wait, I had the same problem with my Asus laptop, I messaged them and they gave me a german asus site where you can register for free and download all the driver disks of all their Driver disks for free, let me check my email

    Here it is http://www.asustreiber.de

By the way, you can find the driver disks for the different OS's also, XP, Vista and 32 and 64 bit versions

OK, that worked, the site does have the drive disk ISO that is for the model G50V, another ISO I found through Google search, a torrent file, said it was for the G50V but is for the G50VT, which is a different drive set as identified if you go to support.asus.com under the G50 series, there are separate entries for the G50VT models (Vt, Vt bestbuy abd Vt-2D and then just G50V (which covers the G50VM). THe torrent disk I downloaded had a Registry OEM update that listed the model as G50Vt. This DVD from the .de site lists the model as just G50V and worked on the G50VM that I have. So thanks again
