G50VT (Best Buy) Having multiple issue when installing Windows 7.

Hello Guys,

I am new to the site and I am seeking some help. Ok here it goes. So I installed windows 7 on my ASUS computer this weekend and I had some major issues. The first one was that when the installation was thru my mouse kept on failing sometimes it will work other times it will not work. Then when I placed a CD in the DVD drive my whole computer locked up. I went to the Device manager and there where many items with Yellow question mark so I inserted the Driver CD that came with the computer and after a couple of attemps I was able to load up some of the drivers. The only driver that I installed that was made for windows 7 was my Nvidia driver. Other than that well I let the computer search for them thru the DVD drive. Now my buttons or hot keys do not work. my blue color touch buttons let light up but do not work any of them. The device manager is not showing anything that is of a question. I Also installed Direct Console 2.0 and it does not launch and I installed ATK hotkeys and my hot keys do not work except for my bright control button. I removed the Systematic Point program and now my mouse touch pad works. I was reading on this forums that I can grab the drivers for the G71V and they will work just fine. Is that true? I have downloaded all of them I just have not installed them cause I am afraid I am going to mess something up. Please help.

I have posted the answer to this many times below your post. install ATKACPI Driver first then the others. it should work.

 

Where do I find that driver at?

 

asus support web site. Look under the G51 win 7 ATk link. Download all 5 files. Install ATKACPI Driver 1st then the other 4. For splendid to work you must also install the splendid file on suport site too. DC 2.0 is another file. I have found that ASUS usually stops updating old laptops with new software but the newer versions usually work on the older ones (laptops).

 

Thanks for all of your help Solid71 I installed the ATKACPI like you told me and now my hot keys works excellent. I will try the Splendid file later on today and also the express gate software does not work at all it will not even extract the file it gives me a code, but I forgot to write it down.
