Okay, my G50VT is working just fine right now, but it had a strange problem the other night. I'll list it to make sure I include everything that happened and it's easy to follow:
1. Plug in USB flash drive.
2. Move media file to flash drive. File transfer completes.
3. Unplug USB drive, system IMMEDIATELY freezes.
4. Hard restart, system refuses to proceed past BIOS splash.
5. Restart again, tab to see what's getting hung up. Boot is getting stuck at
"Checking NVRAM..."
6. Tried several times to start, kept getting stuck at the same moment.
7. Tried unplugging from both A/C and battery power for 10 minutes, booted fine after that.
What the heck happened, and should I be worried?

I had an experience that was similar. When I'm sitting on the couch with the laptop, my wife sitting next to me will cause the laptop to receive a static shock that will cause the mouse to stop working (obviously connected thru the USB port)...I'll have to do a hard shutdown...take power away from the thing, then it works fine.
Just a guess-timate that our machines are hypersensitive to static charges or just have somewhat iffy USB ports.
My overall experience with the machine has been great...but yes I understand your apprehension. -

Interesting i have had minor issues with usb nothing like this.
Next time use the rest button (hole next to spare hdd in door). -
Interesting indeed; I can recall twice when my USB mouse wouldn't function on start-up until booted into Windows or I restarted the machine. It must either be a USB port connection problem with the G50Vts or possibly a BIOS issue?
