Well, no-one has actually received a G50VT-A1 or G50VT-A2 yet to actually prove it, but it would seem based on the resellers and general consensus that the G50VT-A1/A2 will most definately have the orange trim. My problem is that I do not like the orange trim. Will there be anyway to change the trim to maybe black or some other color (maybe blue)? My problem is I personally do not like orange as a color. I would just buy a G50VT-X1 but the resolution and Best Buy warranty just doesn't do it for me. I was considering a MSI GT627 (which is very similarly spec'd) when they came out, but I do not like their "aerodynamic control panel" thing and I personally do not like bold colors like red/orange/yellow. Specs wise the ASUS G50VT-A1 is the perfect notebook for me, but the look as well as the known issues (sound/keyboard/lag problems) hurt my opinion of it. If ASUS was to offer the G50VT-A1 with the Best Buy look, I think it would be perfect.

I am sure you can disassemble it yourself and spray it with some all purpose Rustoleum plastic spray paint to fix it...would make an interesting guide. The Asus laptops are usually not cosmetically customizable unless it is a custom job.

Well, I was considering doing a custom paint job, but the trim has a RoG logo on it, and I don't want to lose that if possible and when I do custom jobs, I perfer to have a spare incase I screw it up. Honestly, if I could upgrade the screen in the Best Buy model or somehow get a replacement set for the Best Buy model to use on the reseller model, I would probably do that.

is the silver/black design exclusive to BestBuy's ASUS G50VT-X1 model? i'm looking at the ASUS G50VT-X2 (new one) on NewEgg and it has an ugly red/orange trim to it. maybe... just maybe NewEgg made a mistake? :(

    anyways, i feel your pain.

No, it just causes too much attention. I was thinking about getting a local motorcycle shop that I am friends with the owner to paint it for me; however, does painting it void the warranty? I mean, I guess I could live with the orange, but I'd much rather have black/silver/blue. I just feel a little bit cheated by ASUS, I really do like the style of the G50VT-X1.

I think painting does indeed void the warranty...
