Just wondering if anyone overclocks the CPU outside of the asus control console? I have loaded up SetFSB and not had much luck there...

I am finding that vista in the WEI switches it back to normal speed. The chip itself doesnt seem to run too hot either. T9600 @ 2.8Ghz, or 3.08Ghz on extreme. Thus i was going to see what speed i could get out of it.

do you guys use any other tools? or are there any guides on getting these overclocked more than the asus control panel?

Now that i have my 9800m GS flashed to a 9800m GTS i dont have to overclock the video card at all. i heard that can interfere if you try to overclock both..

i will trade you flash info for setfsb info hehe... actually there is thread with lots of info on the 9800m GS flash to 9800m GTS here

9800m GS flash to 9800m GTS
in summary tavara found that you can flash the bios on the video card with the bios of a 9800m GTS and it doesnt really effect temps. nvflash i think it was. read from page 6 to 11 ish for all the details.

i have done it and it gets to 89c in Furmark, 86c in games with cpu o/c, aka its about the same temp as before when it was a GS but its quite a bit faster... 9704 in 3dmark06 (xp) versus 8500 or so (thats without CPU overclock as well, cant get that working in xp yet...)

The only sticking point is it requires a voltage increase from 1.01 to 1.1. Needless to say that i did watch it like a hawk for the first few days while having large gaming sessions... so far, no crashes what so ever, no BSOD from games at all (wish i didnt say that...) and i live in Australia (hot room temp).

i found that when using ntune to overclock my stock GS it would get above 580mhz on the core without being unstable, once the voltage went up the core and shaders are 600 and 1500 with total stability.

    setfsb
i guess i better read up on setfsb, basically i started the app and couldn't find where i could load up my CPU data in. everything was grayed out and i couldn't load it into the program. kept erroring... it was the latest version im pretty sure...
