hey guys,
so I got this amazing laptop, very happy with it, except two minor problems....
first, I replaced 320gb with 64gb SSD by patriot, installed window z from the restore dvd, then installed drivers from another DVD - everything works the way I like it...
...but here's the problem, the modem is not showing up, when I do hardware scan it doesn't show up, not listed in modem properties nor device manager.
- I did find the modem folder on drivers dvd, installed the drivers, restarted pc but nothing, modem doesn't show up...
also, the IrDA icon is missing from my control panel, but I can see it in a Device Manager
any advice, highly appreciated... (and yes, I did look around asus site)

The laptop does not have a modem... Asus decided to be leave the jack on the case to tease us...
Just like did you notice the laptop came with a phone cable and a s-video cable? Show me where to plug that video cable in at... lol
But no modem, just like we have a plug for the tuner card, which we dont have...
As for the IrDA... I dont have the icon neither, than again I have reinstalled also... So someone else has to chime in on that note. -
No modem???!!! LOL - maybe they should update the system specs then, since every website that sells this laptop, lists 56k modem (i'm assuming that you can buy one from asus if you really needed it...) they should just have put another usb connector in it's place... hahaha - i can't stop laughing
as for IrDA, yeah I'd like to know if any1 else have this icon problem
thanks, -
