How is the G50VT-A2 compared to the Gateway 7805u?
I wanted the Gateway, but did not want to settle for the lower res screen currently at Best Buy.

    1. Build Quality
    2. Game Experience
    3. Movies

    I purchased the Asus.

    Thanks

Sorta closing the barn door after the horse has run off, ain't ya? But I think you made the right decision, I have the Gateway 7811 which is almost identical to the new model, and while it's an excellent value I like my G50 more; the keyboard is better, it seems faster in both everyday operation and games, the camera is much better, etc. etc. Enjoy!

I agree with most people here: ASUS's G50Vt is an overall better machine than 7805u. I bought my brother a 7811FX about half a year ago, and it had given him nothing but troubles. The OS installation was somehow messed up from the start, so he couldn't install most of the games he wanted to play (BF2 for instance). Then now he's having problems with overheats.

Apparently this is not an isolated incident, as many others have reported the same issue. Most of them resolved their issues by returning their units back to Best Buy for a new one, hoping not getting another Lemon.
