Xoticpc seems to have pulled the offer allowing you the ability to switch out the Blue Ray optical for a normal optical saving you close to $300 on the total price.
This was bound to happen, and was definitely an oversite on their part. They wouldn't have sold any V1's with that option available for the V2. Consider yourself lucky if you were able to get the V2 for the ridiculous $1582 price....Unless of course they decide to not honor it since they should be shipping out this week.
I am keeping my fingers crossed on this.

Ok, just spoke with Xoticpc and they said that as long as I made payment on the purchase and the order is in the production phase then they will honor it. Otherwise, if you were not in the production phase then the order is void. Phew!

I new it. I like my my reseller for being up front with me.
Gentech is great. -

Actually i was about to post this till i saw this. It turns out not only was this an oversight, but the A2's without the blueray, was against ASUS's policy so they had to stop it. I found out via live chat. That sucks, i was going to order, but wont order for now. I dont need another computer, so i will see what they have in late december(i need a laptop for college in january). If nothing else i'll get the A1, which is a great value

For the last few cycles the blueray drive was one of the main differences between the A1 & A2.
Optical drive and hard drive are the only differences usually. -
I will post my review on the A-2 when my unit arrives. It has shipped and it should arrive on Friday.
-
Yeah, mine too. It was picked up by UPS in Nebraska this evening...I should see it either Thursday or Friday.
So, after all this and now finding out about Asus's policy do you think XoticPc may have just eaten it and shipped me a complete A2 with the BlueRay opticals or do you think they pulled it out?? -
I have no idea but THEY NOW have 3 YEAR WARRANTY!! Look at the web page!! Xotic Rocks in my book

the 3rd year warranty is an asus promo for all resellers. Those who care will put it up on their site soon
-
-
I ordered from Xotic on the 4th and it also shipped yesterday. I am assuming that they will give me the warranty that is listed on my original order (2 year ASUS Global Warranty). -
The 3rd year warranty promotion is from Asus, not the reseller. The promotion states that purchases must be made between Nov 14 and Dec 31, 2008 and is valid only for the G71G-A2 or G50Vt-A2. The promotion doesn't extend your 2 year global warranty to 3 years, but it adds an extra 1 year North America warranty.
On a side note, there are currently multiple promotions going on.... check them out if you haven't already

I still got the best deal...along with anyone else who took advantage of it.
G50VT-A2 without blueray $1619 - Free shipping $1582 - 2% cash discount $1550.36
Not bad for an $1800 computer. No deal is going to compete with that. It arrives Monday -
I will post pics of the unit on friday night. My unit arrives on Friday.
G50VT-A2 without BlueRay is NO LONGER Available
