    My friends;

I was pretty convinced that my new notebook should be the G50VT-A2.
I´ve just selled my Sony Vaio AR690U, which was a 17´´ fullHD (1920X1080) with Bluray, etc, etc...
I want a 15.4´´ note with Bluray. I´ve looked for the best models. Honestly, I´m trying to keep distance from Vaios and Dells just because they have been my brands for almost 10 years now, and I´ve always thought that ASUS is a superior machine than these other ones.
So I´ve looked all around and came to the conclusion that this machine, either with it´s original config with the T9400 processor or customized with T9550 or T9800 was the best 15´´ notebook with bluray on the market (considering a reasonable price... no more than $ 2,500...).
But I´ve seen so many bad reviews about it, about it´s keyboard lag, HDD problems...
I knew that battery life and weight should be a point, but these issues about keyboard and stuff scared me...
I was on my way to buyit online today. My only question was it is worth to customize it on a ASUS retailer (such as Agearnotebooks...) or buyit directly from Amazon or newegg.
But with all these issues I´m lost. I´m not sure anymore about this machine and even about ASUS.

    I´ll be waiting your replys.

    Tks in advance

I've got one of these, first laptop I've owned.

Battery life is pretty ordinary, but for a high powered laptop I'm told it's usual. About 2 hours before it konks out.

    HDD for me is fine

The keyboard took some getting used to. The keys are firm (I guess built for abuse from gaming) so you need to press harder than usual to get it not to miss some keys. I got used to it after a while.

As for customising it, it will void warranty but usually the customising place honours the warranty for the upgraded portion (eg processor). the P9500 increases battery life by about 30 mins.

The splash start up screen annoys me, makes a 'boom' sound (even if the laptop's been muted) but you can get rid of it.

I dont like the orange colour too. The gaming mouse is a pretty decent mouse but I personally dont like the styling.

Apart from the issues above the laptop is fantastic! Very powerful laptop and very happy!

Get it, you will not regret it.

Performance: GTA on HIGH runs 35 fps so this sums it all.

Portability: Id give it a 7 from 10, Hey, its a portable desktop not a laptop.

Screen quality: I'm yet to see any better between my friends laptops.

Keyboard lag: Press g+Fn and its solved, if you dont want to do that, do like someone said, get used to hitting the keys hard, i am typing this now with 50 words per minute speed, - do you see any missing letters (i wont check lol, lets hope this does not turn into an epic joke)

battery: meh, 2 hours will do.

and this thing will make heads turn so if you are studying computer science or smth, you will get to know more chicks than you can imagine, and what a wonderful - none intrusive way to start a convo, "hey, where did you get this lappy from"...

works fantasitaclly well for nerdy girls :)

Keep in mind that the G50's are the same size as a 17" even though they are 15.4

I just got it from Amazon.com (Asus G50VT-A2). It's on promotion right now with instant rebates and mail-in rebates. So far everything's been amazing. I did not experience any of the mentioned problems. I supposed the new ones are all fixed up and optimized.

ps. I went with Super Saver Shipping and got it in two days via UPS.

I can honestly say that I've never had the keyboard lag issued with my G50Vt-X2 and am VERY happy with it. I would have liked it more with a 17" screen in that chasis, but it is a hell of a laptop with a 15.6" nonetheless.
