Although i do realise that there are plenty of threads devoted to similar topics, which i have read through, i am still encountering a whole load of problems.
CPU:
For starters, i always have asus direct console, which can pull the 2.26 GHz processor up to 2.49, but i know that it can go further - in CA36GTP's sig he says he has managed 2.6 GHz - and i cannot seem to make it work. In the opening BIOS, there is nothing i can change, and i cannot seem to find any other way of overclocking.
GPU:
Because of a fault in the computer's drivers, which, try as i might, i cannot fix, it sincerely believes that it is running on a 9800M GT (its not- its a GS), which means that Rivatuner does not work- the GT's overclocked speeds are lower than a regular GS, meaning that all i would do is UNDERclock it.
Again, i also know that the GS chip can easily be made to match the GTS, gaining a 10-20 % performance boost, and i would like if i could do this.
I would also prefer if there were solutions to these problems that did not involve things like flashing the BIOS, as i know there is a large potential for error, and this would also (please correct me if i am wrong) make it permanent, meaning that the systems would always be on max power, and therefore run very hot.
Thanks, tobyr.
