    1) Does it come with the 2nd HDD connection and bracket?
Answered: No it doesn't, a second HDD bracket must be bought at Asus e-store. Mixed feelings for whether a 2nd HDD works afterwards. -E.B.E.

    2) Does it have lights in same locations as G50VT-X1:
....-Gamer Republic tag and 1 light bar at the back?
....-2 light bars, on the side of the LCD?
....-Media buttons/minidisplay bar and around the touchpad?
Answered: Yes the lights are in the same places and color. -Qliphah

    3) Has anyone tried replacing the lid from G50VT-X1 onto G50VT-X2?

    4) Has anyone tried to get rid of the Orange trims by painting them other colors?

    5) If using 64-bit OS, can it recognize 4GB SODIMMs? Say for example, I put in 2 of these, will the motherboard be able to let the OS use all 8GBs of RAM (yes, assuming you launch enough apps to use 8GBs)?
Answered: Yes, it can use 8GB RAM

    1) Does it come with 2 HDD brackets?

    >>Personally owning the X1 it didn't come with brackets, I would assume the same is true of the X2

    2) Does it have lights in same locations as G50VT-X1:
....-Gamer Republic tag and 1 light bar at the back?
....-2 light bars, on the side of the LCD?
....-Media buttons/minidisplay bar and around the touchpad?

    >>Yes the lights are in the same places and color

    3) Has anyone tried replacing the lid from G50VT-X1 onto G50VT-X2?

    >>The X1 has a 15.6" LCD as the X2 has a 15.4", this may create problems.
It may not, but I'm not taking mine apart to see if the screws have the same placement

    4) Has anyone tried to get rid of the Orange trims by painting them other colors?

    >>I've seen some very impressive laptop/PC mods, so with the right skills anything is possible.

1>>Personally owning the X1 it didn't come with brackets, I would assume the same is true of the X2

    >>>> Yea I know the X1 doesn't come with a second bracket, that's why I want someone with an X2 to tell me if it does have one. This will somewhat impact my decision on which to buy...

2>>Yes the lights are in the same places and color

    >>>> Really? I thought the black-orange case didn't have a light bar at the back of the lid...

    3>>The X1 has a 15.6" LCD as the X2 has a 15.4", this may create problems.
It may not, but I'm not taking mine apart to see if the screws have the same placement

    >>>> Wait, are the two laptops different in size? Or is the bezel different? Because if it's just the front bezel's different, switching the back lid should be fine? (I'm assuming both laptops have same dimensions here)

4>>I've seen some very impressive laptop/PC mods, so with the right skills anything is possible.[/QUOTE]

    >>>> Yea, I was just hoping if someone tried it, they could shed some light on what paint to use, any precautions, etc.

I'd probably be the first one to do that, as well as painting over the RoG logo on the back. Then again, my sister doesn't think it looks that outrageous, so I'll have to see it in person and see if I don't get a lot of people staring at it.

Cool stuff. How would you go about removing the orange, or would you just spray some primer over it, then several coats of the color of preference? Or maybe just using a vinyl dye?

Not entirely sure...it depends on whether it is orange paint or if the colour is infused into the plastic. If it is just paint and the underlying plastic is insoluble, then wiping it with the appropriate solvent should do the trick. If not, then it would likely involve repainting. Actually, what I'd really like to do is to remove the silly RoG badging.

i wouldnt be entirely sure the g50vt-x2 doesnt have room for 2nd HDD. the
manual for the g50 series says that have 2 spaces. If you guys are just talking about if the bracket, not the extra space, well who cares?
(they are cheap and easy to get)

The space is there, the bracket is available on the ASUS eStore (when it's in stock, that is).

Yes, but it does have connectors? I heard that there may not be connectors for a second HDD.

Clarified #1, I mean the connection itself, and the bracket.

I think it is quite likely that it does have the connectors. I believe I remember a confirmed case of installing a 2nd HDD in the G50V-X1 (or G50Vt-X1, I don't remember which). In any case, the V and Vt models should be similar in this respect.

Yeah, it showed as $1199.99 last night on Newegg, and now it's showing as $1349.99 as it did a few days ago. It really sucks cause im sitting here waiting for an RMA from newegg to get my refund while this laptop is so cheap, and I can't buy it till I get my refund :(

Holy crap, why did they change it back? I've been on the fence about a laptop the past few days and saw the $1199.99 price this morning and nabbed it.

Just checked it right as you posted it and now it's $1349.99 again... SORRY!!

At $1199.99 this laptop is basicly a steal. After I get my refund I'll see if I having a chat with newegg will do any good on getting the sale price, lol. If all else fails I'll wait about a week to buy it, and check it every day and see if it goes on sale.

Props to you for getting it at the $1199.99 price point, I'm sure you were one of the few.

Can't find it either :( I am not even sure that there was a confirmed case, it's just a vague memory (reading too many threads every day).

Think I got it - was back in August... OP never apparently was able to fix the issue of making it work, but later thread posts from another member indicated success.

I just ran some newegg pictures through GIMP and changed the orange to black to see how it would look.
I must say, I would want to do that in real life...

Yeah...looks sleek. Unfortunately I have no experience with paint apart from elementary school, and that experience tells me that I will have to send it out for a professional job unless I want a disaster on my hands.

Have to say, seeing those pictures, I see why they put orange in. It just looks...dull tbh!

As you guys, once I get mine, I would like to install a 2nd HDD, but I don't know if this will cancel the warranty...
