Just saw that Newegg now lists the G50VT-X2 as available for order, in stock. Still no pictures. I am hoping that the X2, A1, and A2 will share the X1's silver/black color scheme (no orange).

X2 specs below. Looks like missing the Blueray, slower CPU, one less hard drive. It does have bluetooth, higher screen res.

Bluetooth, p8600 CPU instead of P8400... I think the resolution is a biggie, but I agree with you. I am tempted to go for it, although I kinda liked the idea of having a blueray player to hook up to my HDTV, so I may wait for the A2.

The resolution was a dealbreaker for some people so it is not insignificant. The other differences I see:

    P8600 rather than P8400
    Bluetooth

EDIT: dalbert beat me to it. One other difference: the hard drive is 7200rpm rather than 5400.

What about the X1 that newegg sells?
    Item #N82E16834220379

It's not crippled like the BB one was. I ordered one a few days back for $1267 shipped. They are running a deal till the end of Oct. Asus G50V-X1 NoteBook for $1350 - $100 with coupon code EMCBACEAE [Exp 10/30] + $17 shipping = $1267

Thats not the G50vt, it's the G50v. Different GPU is the major part.

Really? I thought I got a good deal. I looked at a few places and that seemed to be the best price. Where should I have looked?

There's no such thing as "just a 9800M"
    It's gonna be a GS.

Also, why is the new screen 16:10 ratio? I thought they were pushing 16:9.

Not sure about the X2, but the X1 comes with both. It also come with the 2 year warranty, no bright pixel, and accidental damage warranty, unlike the BB version. Since I can't post a link being a newb, you can put this together to see it. newegg dot com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220379

G50VT-X2... Going to have to keep my eye out for the "R" (Open Box) version of it on Newegg ;) Missed out on a couple $1350 notebooks that were Open Box priced at $950... I'm 5 for 5 on Open Box items with Newegg.

    Cheers,
    Kermee

    That's a G50V-X1 you linked to, not a G50V T-X1

Completely different laptops with completely different specs.

    Please stop confusing the people.

Newegg has a picture of the box posted (given that they didn't re-use the one from the G50V). But there is none of the actual system yet, so there's no way to tell if it is orange or silver. I am talking to Newegg now to see if they can get more pictures up.

Based on the picture, it looks like Alone in the Dark will be bundled.

The warranty is from ASUS for authorized ASUS resellers (including Newegg) except for: Best Buy, Best Buy Canada, Micro Center, and The Source by Circuit City in Canada.

Anyone noticed how the X1 had a resolution of 1366 x 768, which is almost 16:9
    And the X2 has a resolution of 1680 x 1050, which is 16:10

Yes, this was also the case for the original G50V model. The Best Buy had 16:9 screen, and the NewEgg X models as well as the A and B models had 16:10.

NewEgg doesn't specify the 4GB DDR2 RAM and also, is it certain the GPU will be a Geforce 9800M GS? How does the GS compare to GTS?

poo... it has a red/orange trim. i wish they would at least make the cover completely black. still, i think i will buy this over the np2096. the GPU is winning me over

HI guys, Im looking at this one and the g50v-a1, is the P8600(x2) vs T9400(a1) difference made up since the 9800 gs is 256 bit while the 9700 gt is only 128 bit (for gaming)

for gaming, get the G50vt. For the GPU is what really matters. THe proc diff is marginal.

@mit648: echoing Vedya, get the higher graphics card for gaming. That'll matter a lot more than the processor. So will the RAM.
