Okay, I decided to draw up a quick list of the differences between the different G50Vt models out there, so that the information is all on a single page for people like me who are potential buyers of the G50Vt and are trying to decide. Sorry for the ghetto job using a JPEG, but I couldn't figure out how to create a nice table using vB code. Please let me know if there is any missing or incorrect information and I'll fix it.

    Two things:

    1) Even though 1366x768 is technically WXGA, I think it is important to note the difference that 1366x768 is a 16:9 screen (I personally think a better name for this screen would be 768p since that's the standard nomenclature that 16:9 TV screens go by, and laptop screens are progressive scan), while 1680x1050 is a 16:10 screen.

    2) The X1 is the only one with a Blue/Black design, the others are Orange/Black.

Sigh. I just found out that there is an X3 model at NCIX, for Canucks who don't want to cross the border or have it shipped to them. Too bad about the slow HDD, maybe it's a typo.

I am pretty sure the X1 has a 7200RPM Drive and that bestbuy's site has a typo.

Are you sure about T9400 having only 3MB L2 Cache?
    Isn't it 6MB?

The X1 warranty is through Asus for the 1 year. It cannot be upgraded, other than to a Best Buy Warranty and it's North America only.

If anyone has heard differently please correct me. In my various phone calls between Asus and Best Buy no one really seemed to have a clue what they were talking about, except for assuring me that Asus could not sell me an extended warranty.

There is now the B1 that has the T9550 and 2x320GB for the same price as the A1 was.

Absolutely correct! I made this chart a looong time ago, before I got my G50. It hasn't been maintained...my official excuse was that thesis writing got in the way. But I would like to fix it once I'm done, hopefully in a short time. I also looked into making a table with BBcode instead of using the ghetto JPG approach, but was not successful. I did see a table somewhere on NBR but I have since lost it. If anyone does know how to create tables, please post or PM me.

Are all G50Vt models have the same build design but some with different colour layouts?
I noticed that there's a white/black and orange/black G50Vt but do they both have the same port layout?

Yes, they are all using the same chassis and the port layout is also the same.
