Just got the X1 about a week ago and I think it's amazing especially for the price ($840 from Best Buy), but from reading reviews on this laptop before buying it I saw alot people saying they were surprised by how good the sound is on this comp. but for me on max volume it's still not as loud as a 4 year old $500 laptop I used to use. On some games with the volume all the way up I still have a little trouble even hearing what they're saying.

    any advice here?

You need to set the Loudness Equalization in the Realtec Audio Manager. Boosts the sound a bit more.

Stat > Control Panel > Realtek HD Audio Manager > Speakers > Sound Effect.

Set it to live or smth, and mess with the Loudness Equalization.

On headphones you might not like it to be on "Live" because the sound source so close to your ears you might not like the "live" effect so I usually choose rock when on headphones :).

You can also change the max volume in the BIOS, I believe.

I don't know what the deal is with the speaker loudness. Yeah, they are nowhere near the 240W Logi Z-2300 on my desktop, but anywhere near full power on the G50 is painfully loud for me.
