Do you find this Laptop is fairly easy to move around? I'm Debating between this laptop and an N series. And my biggest worry about the G50Vt-X5 is the portability, i move my laptops around from room to room and friends house to friends house alot. The 9800M GS is nice and all but if the laptop is an unmovable brick...I'd just as soon go for a 9650 or 120M.

When I take my laptop to work (Gotta love those slow days) or any where else I don't really have any problems.

You don't find yourself wishing you went for something smaller?

Every now and then I do but the size and weight don't bother me much at all.

id say the 15.4" would be the best investment.
i would never sacrifice size for power unless i actually wanted something smaller on the side, like 10" netbook to go along with my 17" laptop, but thats me. smaller laptops usually cost more and of course have less performance. just think, are you going to be carrying this laptop very often? will it stay stationary or within the same building for most of the day? do you need more battery life?

The size and weight are never an issue for me, but I try to go to the gym 5 days a week. The backpack is nicely padded for larger moves.

I carried my lighter 15.4 inch compaq all around the house moved it up and down stairs 15 plus times a day and plan todo the same. Carried it back and forth to work in a backpack or bag... prefered the backpack but it damaged the cheap screen.

Unless things go bad ill let u know in about 36 hours what i think of myne. Im sure itll be a pain carrying to work in a bag, but i dont see going around the house as a real burden, the power rules over all lol.

I's not a strength issue delta i assure you. I sleep next to a Lat tower :p It's a hassle issue, be kinda like trying to justify the Nintendo DS as a handheld if it were the size of a 13 inch tv.

Someone once complained about the weight, so just making sure you weren't in the same category :) I think what you need to ask is how serious you are about gaming on a notebook. If you have to play the newest (except Crysis) on high at native res, then go for the G50. If you don't care that much, then the N81 should suffice. For me, the extra performance was important because I wanted a system comparable to my desktop...if I didn't care that much, I would have gotten something cheaper with better battery life.

With any luck ill have myne in 20 hours and give you my initial impression. Its not like its gonna be a tank like the W90.

I personally started out wanting a 16 inch 16:9 laptop with a numberpad and a graphics card of atleast the Intel 4500 MHD, I only wanted it for programming and an occasional game. Once i realized i had a little more cash i started looking at HP's with 9600 GT's and then i was like oh crysis and somewhere down the road I just had to have the bang for buck performance of the G50.

I personally am serious about gaming though on a laptop is want. If i wanted a gaming desktop id just use my ps3. Being able to take it to any room in the house at a moment notice or over to a friends is a huge convenience over a little weight.

You have to ask yourself the same.

The games i mostly play that i want to run on high? Mostly WoW,Hellgate,Left4Dead,COD4,COD5,Gears of War And Assassins creed.

EDIT: Clutch i agree with you there to an extent. I do play alot of games on my PS3. But there are alot of good games not available on it sadly.

When I chose between MSI GT627 and ASUS G50Vt, I noticed the weight of the lovely G50. But I still chose G50 because the build quality and warranty. With a good backpack, I think carrying the G50 everywhere will not hurt you.
When I bought a new PC/ laptop, I want to play new game at high setting, but when it's about 1-2 years old, medium setting will be acceptable. I have a desktop with AMD X2 3800+ (2.00GHz), 2GB DDR2 800, 512MB 9600GT. It's 2 years old now (except the 9600GT, It's only 6-month old), and the god-damn 3800+ is a bottleneck now. The firepower of G50 will replace this desktop as a my primary gaming system. Weight is not important since my desktop weighs much more :D.

Exactly like crysis which isnt on PS3. I have CoD4 on it though. I forget what card the other one has but i was looking at the 9600M GT and 130M from the HP models and their benches and the fact that id have trouble running fear at the native res of the laptop on high just made me think... what am i about to spend all this money for? The G50 despite the lid graphic seems like im getting everything i want pc wise and gaming wise for cheaper then anything else.

Sadly im actually building a Mini Arcade Cabinet with a 7750 Black Edition and to start an Integrated Radeon 3200. But by the time i stick a dedicated in it itll smoke the laptop. Im only building the arcade up this much because the parts are uber cheap not because im gonna play crysis on it. Im looking for an atom project todo as well unfortunatly i cant commit to a car computer at this time so i dunno.

Well I have myne in hand expect an initial benching and plenty of pictures within 48 hours. I will continue to extensivley test everything over the next month and add more to the initial review.

Its definitly got some weight to it but its also obviously lighter then my PS3. I dont see any problems in calling this portable.

I really do not think the G50 is heavy, granted my last laptop was a Toshiba X205 NOW that is a heavy lappy.I have a X83 which is a 14.1 and the G50 and I dont begin my morning saying I better take the X83 because the G50 is going to wear me out. Find a good backpack I personally have a STM which I love but it does not have a lot of extra space. More Power is always better!

i switched down from a 17 inch alienware m9700.. its pretty light next to that plus the housing on this latop is very tight(screen) and put together well.
