Hello to everyone in the Asus forum! I am currently trying to find a gaming laptop that still retains some portability (<16'' screen and decent battery) and is relatively cheap. From what I have found these two seem to be my best bets,

    Asus G50Vt-X5 = $740
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile
    2.13GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB on-die cache
    1366 x 768 resolution
    15.6"
    320GB Serial ATA (7200 rpm)
    NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS 512MB GDDR3
    9-cell

    Asus G50Vt-B1 = $1100
    Processor Class: Core 2 Duo
    2.66 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 6MB cache
    2 Drives of 320 GB
    15.4 in.
    NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS 512MB GDDR3
    1680 x 1050 pixels
    2-year warranty
    6 + 9-cell batteries

Clearly the B1 is better speced but I would like opinions on each of these laptops if anyone owns one. The two most important things I would like to know are what kind of battery life they get and if they have heat problems or not. I know these a "gaming" laptops so I am not expecting great battery life or coolness while gaming but rather doing normal things like web browsing.

Normal things like just web browsing and typing a document. I will not be doing any gaming on my lap.

The Niner's better do something about their defensive line. I'm getting of watching three seasons of fail.

The defensive line is not bad against the run but they cannot pass rush to save their lives. Hopefully Manny Lawson and Parys Haralson will put some pressure on this season. You a 49er fan?

So Soviet is Asian, conservative, a 49er fan, and likes computers. We should share a drink someday.

As for the topic at hand, I'd go with the X1, but then again I'm more or less comfortable with and more than willing to upgrade my computer. (Such as a different processor and a second HDD).

If you don't mind upgrading (and not having a warranty, since changing out a CPU will end your warranty), go for the X1.

If you want everything done for you and Asus' awesome warranty, go for the B1.

And I secretly have the smallest hard drive out of all the M570TU users. I was going to post this in kaltmond's W860CU thread, but I don't want to be fun of by the other Clevo guys thinking that I modded the hell out of my notebook to make up for something. Yes, size matters.

We went from talking about battery time, then football, and now hard drives.

I don't think you were talking about hard drives.
