So my CPU is all that slow... its a silly T7450, and i dont like using Direct Console 2.0 to OC it because it tends to BSOD me or just plain simple freeze the lappie about 50% of the time i use it. It is my genuine belief that i can achieve higher fps in some games if i was able to push the T7450 to about 2.4Ghz... maybe even higher.
But unfortunately i am a total noob at overclocking. I tried using SetFSB but the G50VT is not mentioned in the supported systems. If someone knows a software to use or a different method that could be described easily, please share with me. Or, if there is already a thread on this, send a link to it cause i couldnt find one.
I noticed that my temps are relatively low evenunder full load so i think there is a lot of room for OC.
    Thanks in advance.

If you're getting BSODs or freezes it means that your CPU can't OC that high. Switching to SetFSB for overclocking won't help.

Hmmm so basically what you are saying then is that i should abandon the path of overclocking?
Perhaps wait until warranty runs out and swap the CPU for an X9000?
Any other suggestions are also welcome.
Do you think undervolting the CPU and then OCing it will help at all?

I would say that if your CPU is failing to hold an OC at stock voltages, undervolting will only increase your problems!

I gave up OC my P7450 and just undervolted instead, using RMClock I can get it to run just fine at 1.000V, runs cooler and quieter now, probably even gains a bit of battery life too, but I have no test data to support that idea!

If you want a better overclock, you overvolt. Undervolting reduces overclocking potential.

Would it then make a whole lot of sense to overvolt the T7450 to somewhere within its maximum voltage capacity and then try to OC again?
Logically thinking this should definately increase the thermal output of my CPU, possibly even over the suggested temps. I dont know how safe that would be... considering that, ironically, this laptop is a replacement for my G1s with its fried 8600m GT.

I don't see how that makes sense, overvolting adds a lot more heat with no speed increase, and your talking a laptop which undervolting is generally a good idea.

I managed to OC to 2.55ghz while still undervolting.

Dancom96, how did you OC your cpu then? I would like to try and achieve the same results?
Specifically which software did you use?
