    Hello everyone,

I have a Asus G50V-X (newegg version, not the crappy low res bb version). Anywho I reciently installed XP according to the guide found here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=282100

My problem is the HDMI Installer seems to crash out before it completes its installation. I've downloaded it a couple times and it always behaves the same. It shows the nvidia logo, then a screen with a loading bar as it "prepares to install" but thats as far as it gets. It doesnt hang, it just disappears. I end up with no audio and some unknown things in the device manager.

Any ideas to get the HDMI installed? I love this laptop, EXPECIALLY with XP installed :), but I need to get hdmi working.

Did you try the NVIDIA beta drivers, (labeled B on that guide) since it includes the HDMI driver? I am running that version on XP on my G50V and have no problems.

Ok that driver did fully run and install so thank you! I Still cant get any audio and I have a unknown PCI ... I think I mucked something up trying to solve the HDMI issue. I'm going to wipe the drive and start over, using this HDMI Driver...thanks for the help, I'll let you know how it goes.

To get audio going through your HDMI port, you have to enable digital audio output in your realtek audio manager.

Ok I wiped the drive and started over... even with the hdmi driver posted above, I have zero audio under XP. A quick look at the device manager shows the unknown "Other Devices" that the original xp install guide had, but more alarmingly, I still have a PCI Device error under the System Devices tab.

Heck I might as well post pictures, easier than explaining.

I'm not sure how to identify what this hardware is... it pretty much has to be audio, due to the fact I dont have working audio. Trying to tweak speaker settings shows no audio available.

Also the UUA link above is dead. You guys help me solve these driver issues and I'll host all the drivers used by the G50v on my site for free so they dont disappear over time.

    Ideas?

Edit: Ok I googled up info on the pci device and it does seem to be the UUA. I found a link to a driver and am slowly downloading. will try it in an hour or so once the DL is finished.

    OK!

I have the drivers all installed and audio working on the laptop! Oddly alot of this didnt seem to get cleared up till I upgraded to SP3.

Couple questions. HDMI output to my television works (atm only at an odd resolution /shrug) but I have no sound to the TV. David mentioned above that you need to enable it in the Realtek manager. I dont see where this is. On the Audio I/O tab there is a pulldown where you can set Dolby Digital, Digital PCM etc etc... neither of these seem to send out audio via HDMI port. Am I in the right place or is there something else I need to set?
