    Just curious what you guys were getting for a WEI rating...

    On my G50vm-X1 I'm getting a 4.6
    The limiting factor was the Ram which seemed odd to me, considering it's 4gb
    Thoughts?

    I have the G50VT-A1 and I get a 5.8,5.9 on everything but a 5.4 on the cpu. If I overclock it with Direct Console I get a 5.5 on the cpu.

    Don't worry about the WEI rating. It's a bogus representation of your system's performance and highly unreliable. If you want to see how well your G50 runs, a better benchmark would be PC and 3D Mark Vantage.

    Is your RAM DDR 667 or 800?

    The RAM in the G50v-X1 was DDR2 667 as opposed to the DDR2-800 found in the A1 and A2 models at the time..

    I have similar specs:
    CPU: 5.2 (Stock) 5.4 (OC)
    RAM: 5.9
    Aero: 5.9
    Gaming: 5.8
    HDD: 5.8

    I've seen 6GB of RAM score a 5.4 in WEI, so I'm thinking it tends to base it on speed rather than capacity. This might be why 667MHz RAM differs so much from 800MHz RAM, and also where the dual channel difference becomes overemphasized.

    I tricked vista with OCing my cpu and GPU now i get

    CPU--> 5.7

    cpu oced to 3050Mhz

    all the others 5.9

    Heheheheheheee

    But if you want a better test try the Win7 experience rating

    its out of 7.9

    Cpu--> 6.4
    All--> 5.9
    Aero--> 7.6

    all out of 7.9

    3DMark06 - The Gamer's Benchmark
    WEI - The Noob's Benchmark

    On a more serious note, I think the only use of WEI is to sell out-of-the-box systems at big box stores to uneducated customers. I wouldn't doubt it that manufacturers carefully select components to increase their WEI at a negligible cost increase so that they can sell a given system for more, claiming that it is faster than their competitor.

    Yeah, my X1 puts out a 6277 on 3D Mark.

    I knew that WEI was a joke, i was curious about the rating system.

    That is quite interesting on the Ram speed though. I didn't know the newer models have 800Mhz. I might consider a Ram upgrade....
