    Hi everyone.

Does anyone know if there is switchable graphics on the Asus G50v, meaning if Windows can switch between some integrated graphic (eg. 4500MHD) and the discreet GeForce 9700?
I can see there is Centrino 2, but I don't know if the switchable graphics is available for all centrino 2 models.

I'm thinking about buying the G50v, but I don't know about the power consumption. Does it hold good power, with these great specifications?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

As far as I know the G50v doesn't have it. As for power consumption/battery life, ASUS notebooks tends to lack in that department.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have previously had an Asus, with a P4 processor, which couldn't hold battery for more than 1.5 - 2 hours. Therefor I would like to try a notebook with increased battery life, and some decent graphics.

No, the G50 in fact doesn't have hybrid or mixed graphics.

Asus isn't going to give you great battery life - they top out at 2.5-3 hours, sometimes less, depending on model. Check the G50 review threads here, there might be some battery estimates in them. You are unlikely to improve much beyond your P4 Asus, however, in this criteria.

I would really have liked some more battery life, and maybe also a smaller laptop, which I found Sony Vaio to be, but not available for Denmark :( This one has switchable graphics and better battery life and lightweight.

Thanks for the reply, I will think about which I want; portability or game-power :)

Battery life has somewhat improved in the ASUS SantaRosa+Penryn and Montevina+Penryn models. I think you will get more than the 1.5-2hrs that you are getting from your current notebook. Whether significantly more, I don't know, and it's unlikely for a gaming notebook. Check the reviews for exact numbers.

I consistently get 2-2:15 on max battery saving mode and with the screen dimmed.
