Hey all, yes I said GLUE. The top layer of plastic that is painted Orange/Red is glued on to the rest of the chassis.
How did I find this out, and cause this to happen?
Well, one night I happen to not like having those three strips of blue light + the logo blue light bouncing off the ceiling of my room, and I didn't want to shut off the machine, so I put a t-shirt over the closed lid and that blocked off the LEDs, but unfortunately the t-shirt shifted to the left and blocked off enough air flow out the vent (the only outputting air vent on the unit) to cause the GPU to hit 103 Celsius. Yes, I was running CUDA/Seti@Home on my GPU and taxing the CPU as well.
So anyway, the chassis didn't seem warped or anything, although it was very very hot in between the lid and the vent.
Now it has been about a week, and now the glue seems to be coming undone.
Anybody else have experienced this? I thinking of RMA'ing it, or otherwise Supergluing it (but might void warranty).
I put in a pic of the right side of the machine just for comparison.

I would say the plastic did warp. Even though you may think that, the glue should not be holding any real pressure, its more of a keep it from moving dead and the fact that it popped up and stayed like that the plastic has warped.
I would try to RMA it... I dont think I would say I put a shirt over it.
But out of this happening I can make the following comment:
If the notebook still runs good than I would say the parts and asus did a good job because for it to be that hot and not break means it was built well, with the exception of cheap plastic of course. haha -
if the lighting above the 7th from the left grill divider thingy isn't different, then you can see the colour melting away as well. definitely not glue.
-
That must of been some effect, its not discolored or melted, although it is possible that the vent grill plastic has been warped a bit and that is why it is sagging, along with the related glue issue.

Oh that's nasty! You can't pop it back into place?
-
yeah that is really nasty.. just dont over do things or it will void warranty..
-
that is... resistant to say the least :O at least now i know i dont have to be afraid of any rain.
(depending on the mineral concentration of the water and how much residue is on the oled circuitry, it might not turn on at all when it dries. distilled water should clean it though, without causing any damage even while running) -
Must be a sealed keyboard, good to know.

hmmmmm
I'm guessing that's an A1,
but I wonder if the X5 is similarly water resistant...
anyone know about the quality of the X5 versus this laptop? -

can u plz post here or pm me screens of how much bleeding you have got?>
