Hi All,
First off, thanks for this great community...its the best source for notebook info and help on web.
I recently recieved a new G50VT A2 from Gentec. I was loving it, until I decided to update the graphics driver from Laptopvideo2go.
After the update, all my games started performing very poorly when running on battery power. Specfically, WoW and Oblivion go from 60+ fps with max settings when pluged in to ~10 fps when on the battery. These games worked fine on battery power literally just before I switched drivers. I've doubled and tripled check the battery settings, and they are set to high performance at all times. I tried to revert back to the orginal driver, and that didn't help either. I am a smoker, so I unplug and go outside pretty frequently, this is a pretty major issue for me.
Anyone have any ideas? Please help!
Thanks...

Try disabling powermizer first:

Download cpu-z and see if your cpu is downclocking too. -

aside from the driver settings you should consider the livelyhood of your battery. Letting it drain in under 30 minutes will kill it faster then normal use. When gaming you should stay plugged in.

I've tried using the app posted by xsmile in that thread, and it didn't work. It was too late start fooling around with the registry, or to download cpu-z. I'll let you guys know how it turns out when I can get back to it. -

AC Mode: Clock speed bouncing between 530/799 and 275/300
Battery mode on high performance: clock speed at 169/100 all the time. -
I was thinking of doing jsut that last night, but then this problem occured.
If i can fix it, Ill try to get a review up this weekend.
In short, though, I'm loving it - games are playing very well, though I haven't really tested it with anything too challenging yet. 60+ FPS on Wow with Max settings and 8x AA in 1680x1250 res - and with WoW's recent graphics update this is more impressive that it may seem. I have seen no evidence (yet) of any of the problems that some of the G50V owners faced - no CPU Lag, no infinitely recurring updates, etc. I ran 3dMark06 for the first time last night, (I dont remeber the res), and got ~7900, without overclocking. (I also think i was usuing an old video driver at that point in an attempt to fix my PowerMizer problem)
I'll try to post a full review later...
