    Help!

Yesterday I noticed horizontal lines near the top left of the screen, they have no colour - they are not dead pixels, but they make the line that they form somewhat different in color than the background - its very hard to notice but it exists and this is worrying me.

they show on all different resolutions and even outside windows and they do not show on an external monitor.

to describe again, its a very dim one pixeled line of a somewhat slightly different color than the rest and its not visible from all angles - you need to work your eyes to notice it.
It's not on the full width of the screen, it stretches from the far left to just about the middle and there is one smaller line above this one that starts near the left until the middle of the one below it. oh and they are still and do not move.

now is this a normal screen persistence issue or what?

i turned off the laptop 24 hours and it's still there...

right now im trying to figre out what applications were runnig 2 days ago so i get some lead on if its lcd persistence or not..

    thanks

Symptoms sound like either the LCD inverter gone bad, or impending GPU failure.

Since your LCD-out is clean, then more likely the first.

Either way, if still under warranty call Asus for RMA. In Europe, it may not be a pleasant experience :(.

If I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like a pixel line or two in your LCD is going or has been damaged. Perhaps from too much pressure to the lid? If you put a little bit of pressure (not hard or you'll damage your screen!) on it do the lines change color? Sometimes the lcd reacts to pressure in pixels.

If you can post a closeup pic of what you're talking about I'm sure we could give a better diagnosis.

    Thanks someone finally replied.

I'm afraid its absolutely impossible to capture it on camera because its very, very, very hard to notice but it's still there and no matter how small, there is always a need to know what is causing things if its computer related.

Do you guys think I should give it another week and see if it disappears - meaning it's only a normal screen persistence issue OR call Asus right now...

(Option I is backing up everything and giving it a week)
