I'm having some overheating issues after a while of gaming. I downloaded speedfan 4.0, but I'm not seeing an option to control the fan speeds.

If I understand it correctly, you set the control points of the temperature, the fan will go on or off depending on these set points.

you cannot modify the fan speeds with this model (it has been tried over and over, on the G5x series and nobody has succeeded yet)

i think it depends on the mobo whether controlling the fan is to be supported or not.

I have rarely (never?) seen success reports with SpeedFan and recent ASUS models... (i.e., newer than 2006 or so).

dsdt mods haven't worked either. your best bet is to clean out the fan/grill etc.
