Will my notebook come bloated? Should I re-install a fresh install of Vista to boost performance?

the g50vt's are fast. So no it don't come with much bloatware. Just kill Norton.

I don't need norton. I like AVG. It seems less intrusive.

Does it come with other software installed as well besides windows vista?

Yeah, I'm cheap, but at the same time AVG has never let me down.

If I'm not going to gain any performance, by doing a fresh re-install on this notebook I'll just leave it the way it is. I just hate all the extra stuff manufacturers install on them, when I don't need it.

Norton is about the only 3rd party bloatware there is, which puts Asus well above most of the other manufacturers. But imho, some of the Asus apps are silly, though they may appeal to certain users (e.g. Lifeframe).

Here's a partial list of what you can expect (not all on the G50 are listed, and some that are listed are not there).

I also use AVG, but Avast is also another excellent antivirus software that uses even less resources that AVG.

Some of the potentially unnecessary Asus utilites are:

    Chkmail (optional)
Liveupdate (must delete. This program is very buggy)
Lifeframe (fun to use for the first couple times - can be deleted after)
SmartLogon (a cool, but unnecessary feature)
Virtual camera (unnecessary if you already use skype or MSN for video conferencing)
Expressgate (some find it not useful as it doesn't help to conserve battery life)
Norton (one of the worst antivirus software ever made. This is the first thing you should delete)

Power4Gear. Does it do anything differently then the normal 3 settings that Vista gives you? I have that option and it also gives me the other options.

I ended up just using the driver cd to install all the drivers as I couldn't find them all at Asus.com.

Norton 2009 doesn't even count as bloatware anymore, it's the most impressive antivirus I've ever used, and I've used pretty much all of them out there.

Only 6MB RAM usage even when active scanning. Awesome.

I recently went from Avast to NOD32, the difference isn't much but it's better since I was using the free version anyway to a paid one. Most anti-virus seem pretty light these days with some exceptions.

I agree, NOD32 is also an excellent antivirus software. The only reason why I said AVG uses more resources is because it has the "LinkScanner" option which when enabled, actually scans all results of the supported search engines (Yahoo!, Google, MSN) and provides an evaluation of a safety level of each found website. To some, that might be useful, but others may think it's a burden.
