hi im new here i just one a asus g50vt-x5 on ebay for 707 dollars including p & p.

i be getting it on the 8 on febuary.
i want to know if anyone has had issues with heat and also how bad is the keyboard lag i have read that uninstaling the touch pad fixes this problem.
i was going to get the g51 with gtx 260 i know its better but it overheats like a bi#ch so i choose the lower model hope i havnt made a mistake.

and i would also like to know of any other problems people are having so i can prepare for the worst.

    Ok..G50Vt-X1 owner here.
(Same computer with an slightly faster CPU,Better looking Lid and far shorter battery life.)

    First Q: Heat

A :Don't worry too much,at most just pick up an good quality laptop cooler, your max GPU temps will undercut overheat mode(110C) by about 15-20C.

    Second Q: Keyboard lag.

A: Get the newest Synaptics Track pad driver, make sure all your Drivers are up to date and it will not lag.

    Third Q: Other problems.

A1:I have heard issues with the Nvidia Laptop drivers,My most stable is the Nvidia driver version 185.85,works like an charm,There is an DOX variant if you looked it up that might be worth your time.

A2: Upgrade to windows 7 X64,it will cost you $100 but it is worth it and you will see an improvement in Frame rates in Hardcore games along with way faster operation(Of which means Cooler running and longer battery life.).

Fourth Q: 9800 GS to GTS?

A: It is most likely not worth your time. I looked into it for myself, and if you mess-up you will have issues,It will not give you that big of an difference, also your computer will run hotter.

My Question to you, what Games are you Planning to play and what Computer are you coming from?

Okay, I do have the g50Vt x5 so I know first hand.

Heat. It cools well and since it doesn't have the 260 you don't really need a cooler. Temp usually maxes at around 80 for the GPU, CPU around 75ish. This is if you're in turbo extreme (asus' overclock program with direct console) and you're running a high end game

Keyboard Lag: I have not experienced it at all and I didn't update anything. I got it back in November and it was fine.

GPU: Works fine on almost any game out now. I've played Empire:total war on high settings, Mass effect 2 high settings, MW2 high settings no problem.

If you want to futureproof your computer though I suggest getting the newer models with the 260M. The price difference isn't that much and all you really need to do is invest in a cooler. Eg. I have the zalman NC2000 cause I overclock the CPU to 2.5GHz but its safer to have a cooler anyways.

    Hope this helps.

Your PC might score an 500 in 3Dmark06,G50 gets 8500.
