And it's all mine... of course it's still showing up as available, so maybe they had more than one. I had been deciding between the two $1300 15" monsters from Asus and MSI, and kept wavering. That $150 off made my decision a lot easier. I know open box is a risk, but as I see it, worst case I'm out shipping.
It seems in my 10 minutes of research on open box from newegg, that Asus will honor its manufacturer warranty from the manufacture date. Is there any contrary evidence to that? Also, any chance I'd still be getting 1 year of accident protection from that manufacture date? I know I should probably call Asus about those things, but I thought someone around here might know off-hand.
Anway, soon I will be the proud owner of an Asus G50vt-X6 for at least a couple of days.

AFAIK, you should be good for 2 years warranty from the the MFR date (sticker on bottom of machine). This applies when date of purchase isn't known.
However, you are still purchasing from the retailer (newegg), so if you register your purchase with Asus Serivice once you receive it, you should get the 1 year accident protection. Also, with a copy of your receipt/bill of sale you should get 2 years from your receipt date (instead of mfr date). -
Well I just talked to Asus and the person I spoke to did not confirm this. In fact, she said I would have a 90-day warranty only. I'm still going forward with it, but will take it into consideration before the return period is up. I'll probably attempt to register the laptop when I get it and see if it works.

Update:
I received my G50vt today and in case you are wondering, yes, newegg will ship you a laptop without a battery and power supply. They were nice enough to pay for return shipping. Really, who is newegg helping by shipping these out? If they advertised them as missing vital components, at least the buyers would know and expect it. -
Hey neilnat, did you ever get your G50vt-X6 up and running properly? How has this open-box deal worked out?
Thanks -
Returned it for a full refund (including shipping both ways). Buying a battery and adapter would have made it more expensive than a new one. I ended up getting the laptop in my sig and LOVE it. I figured if I was going to have a heavy 15" that didn't fit in a 15" bag, I may as well get a 17"

By your sig, it looks like you ended up with an MSI monster. Nice.

Thanks Neilnat. I think I'm still gonna buy the ASUS. I dunno, I got my heart set on that one now and I'll probably just go with it. But I'm sure your MSI is pwnage too
Thanks -
At the current rebated price, I don't blame you.
