Hey guys, i just recieved one of these fine machines yesterday and i'm having fierce problems trying to undervolt the P7450 cpu that's inside it. I have successfully undervolted a T7200, T5500 and a T5300 already before with great results all round in 3 different Acer laptops, i'll give an idea here whats happening to me and hopefully some of you might understand it.
1 - open orthos cpu loader
2 - open HW monitor
3 - initial readings from HWmonitor are
ACPI
THRM MIN 40C - MAX 42C
C2D cpu P7450 MIN 53C - MAX 53C
GPU 9800gs MIN 45C - MAX 46C
HD MIN 40C - MAX 40C
all the above are with nothing major running in the background i think, cpu is stating 0 - 2% usage with the niche oled display and checked aswell in task manager. Please note that i watched my laptop screen for 20 whole minutes and the ACPI, GPU and HD all went up and down 1 or 2c but the cpu didnt budge from 53C seems like its stuck or something.
Now i'll stress test the cpu with ORTHOS
Test - Blend - stress cpu and ram for just under 12 minutes
Result =
ACPI-THRM = 67C max
CORE 2 DUO = Core 0 = MAX 67C
Core 1 = MAX 70C
GPU = MAX 56C
HD = MAX 40C "no change"

I'm going to set up RMclock now from Flipfire's thread
Default FID 6.0x = 1.0000v
7.0x = 1.0625v
8.0x = 1.1250v
All above are after auto-adjusting VID's
I have noticed that i cant go below 1.0000v in all my FID's and when i check the cpu info page on RMclock the core temp is giving a reading of 38C and not moving at all up or down it seems stuck just like on HW monitor with the reading stuck at 53C.
Undervolt
1 - 8.0x @ 1.1000v cpu max temps
RMclock = core 0 = 48C
core 1 = 50C
HW monitor = core 0 = 65C
core 1 = 67C
Undervolt
2 - 8.0x @ 1.0500v cpu max temps
RMclock = core 0 = 49C
core 1 = 50C
HW monitor = core 0 = 64C
core 1 = 67C
Undervolt
3 - 8.0x @ 1.0000v cpu max temps
RMclock = core 0 = 45.2C
core 1 = 47.8C
HWmonitor = core 0 = 61C
core 1 = 64C
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys these figures seem very weird to me, after giving it some time i watched RMclock's temp figures and not once did they move up or down just like with HW monitor the figures seem paralysed, RMclock 38C for both cores with not even a slight fluctuation or half or quarter degree up or down and its the exact same with HW monitor being stuck on 53C.
Another thing too is the fan is constantly on, not loud but its always on. I have the laptop now probably 36hrs and i have been on it for like 20hrs and not once did the fan go off for like a minute or so and spin back up again once the temps start to move up in the laptop.
Now i will give it praise it is a tasty looking machine i really like it but the problem here with the undervolting or could it be a cpu problem i dont know to be honest is annoying me to say the least, so if any of you have an idea please help me out and i hope you can understand my post.
Thank you.

Anyone?? Please.

Guys i checked my Bios settings and i noticed that DTS Thermal Management is disabled and Intel VT-D is also disabled and i checked with NB-probe and,
CPU temps - Normal
CPU fan - Normal and Low Quiet
CPU speed - 38% will sometimes go up abit but never falls below 38%
Anyone got an idea why the cpu speed is locked at 38% and would that be affecting my problems with trying to undervolt and would enabling both DTS Thermal Management and Intel VT-D help me in any way possible?
Hope some person here can shed some light on this for me.
Cheers, John. -
Can anyone help me with some information please? The laptop is refurbished with a 3 month warranty and i cant put on AS5 that i have here to see if it helps otherwise warranty void.
I've opened the bottom panel and had a good look inside and everything seems to be in mint condition and the fan is spotless not a speck of dirt or dust, nothing is loose everything is solid.
If anyone has any pointers or tips or any advice to run more tests let me know
Cheers,
John. -
I had a similar problem with a P8400 CPU, RMClock was wrong in my case and I can only assume its a bug in RM's program and Intel's P series CPUs.
Download Everest and check temps to double check.
Still, those temps are a bit high; what surface are you on? Is it hot in the room? How long have you had it? lol. -
Hi Manic Penguin, as you know from my id i'm from Ireland and i have the laptop since thursday morning just gone, it's a refurb from a reputable Ebay seller and it carries a 3mth direct warranty with Asus.
The laptop itself is just totally mint besides the little hassle i'm getting trying to get it undevolt to work and figure out my real temps, at the moment here in my room its pretty cool i have no radiator on and my window is open 24/7 so i could be wrong but we say my ambient room temp is say 25C i could be well off but i aint got no thermometer to properly check.
Right i've got Everest Ultimate on trial here and i'm going to copy n paste the temp readings from its main info page and to note that with the laptops little oled display it states that theres 0% to 2% cpu usage it just kinda flicks up and down
