Warranty is coming to an end soon on my laptop, and I'm thinking of swapping out the P7450. Any suggestions on best bang for the buck? The P9500 seems extremely overpriced at around $370... wondering how the T9400 would perform, even though it uses a little more power.

X9100 for 300$ as well. It's the best c2d you can have in that laptop and it's definitely a great improvement.

Hmm... with an x9100, would I have any power or cooling issues? Also, how would it effect the direct console overclocking?

Direct Console will work just fine.

Cooling might be a bit sticky, since it's moving from 25TDP to 45TDP. I'd say do a T9900, or, better yet, a P9700.

Keep looking. I bought a P9500 for my G50VT before giving it to my son. It cost $180 used on ebay (OEM, not ES) so keep checking. Also the P8700 and P8800 can be had for under $200 and either will give a nice boost to the G50.

    Cheers,

My X9100 cores rarely go over 60° while gaming. Under stress (orthos) I think the max it'd do is 75-80 but I'd have to check again if you're interested.

For direct console, it was quite unstable with the X9100, I'm not sure the MB is designed to support such high frequencies. But remember it's already 3GHz per core, which is really high already and the bottleneck will be your gpu.
